Phyllis E. Hartman, 78, of Sheridan, WY, died Monday, December 20, 2004 in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hartman was born March 3, 1926 in Devil's Lake, ND to Martin and Emma C. (Mikkelson) Larson. She grew up and attended schools in Webster and Devil's Lake, ND, and graduated from Sheridan High School. She attended Lawrence College in Appleton, WI, then attended and graduated from Jamestown College in Jamestown, ND.

After graduation from college, Phyllis returned to Sheridan and married William Schwartz in the First Congregational Church in Sheridan. The couple moved to Washington, moving back to Sheridan in 1958, joining the family business in the Sheridan Greenhouse. The Schwartzes were later divorced. Phyllis married Dan Gerrard. He preceded her in death. She then married Harold Hartman who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hartman was a Past Matron of Friendship Chapter #1, Order of the Eastern Star in Sheridan, was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Sahida Temple, and was very active in Shrine activities. She loved the mountains and the family cabin, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, two sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Hartman is survived by three sons, Marvin "Mo" Schwartz, and wife, Donna, Rob Schwartz and his wife, Julie, both of Sheridan, Paul Schwartz, and wife, Karen of Big Horn, WY; three stepsons: once stepdaughter; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

At Mrs. Hartman's request, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.
