Aug. 3, 1926 - Apr. 28, 1981.

SHERIDAN, Wyo.- J. Russell Kavka, who ranched at Arvada, was a member of the Sheridan Elks and Masonic lodges, and Scottish Rite, Shrine and Jesters.

He died Tuesday at age 54 in the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Gillette, a son of Jacob and Marie Mach Kavka. He attended the Spotted Horse School near where his parents homesteaded in 1915. He also attended Gillette schools and the high school and college in Sheridan.

He married Elaine Hull In 1948.

Survivors include his wife of Arvada; three daughters, Sandra Kavka of Palm Springs, Calif., Cynthia Cotton of Dayton, and Karen Rawlston of Sheridan; his stepmother Josephine Kavka of Sheridan; and a sister, Velma, of Sheridan.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Champion Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Masonic Circle of the Sheridan Cemetery.
