Funeral services for Henry “Shorty” Jackson, 84, of Sheridan will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip Wold officiating.

Burial will be in the Elks Section of Sheridan Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Mr. Jackson died March 5, 2008.

He was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Roundup, Mont., to Gilbert and Imogene (Mast) Jackson. The family moved to Sheridan when he was 6 years old, and he grew up and attended school here. He was a graduate of Sheridan High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, then returned to Sheridan and worked as an electrician for Chauncey Bohnsack, Sheridan Electric City and Superior Laundry before beginning his own business with Jackson Electric. He later sold the business.

He married Irene Dau on March 1, 1958.

He was active in Boy Scouts, joining Friendly Indians in 1936. He was a Scout Master for Troops 105 and 117 from 1953-2005. He became district training chairman in 1974 and was a Vigil member of Order of the Arrow. He served on the Eagle board of review and was district representative scouting coordinator for Cub Pack 117.

He received the Scout Masters Key & Training Award, the Silver Beaver Award in 1969, Frank Morgan Award Central Wyoming Council, the District Award of Merit and Lamb of God Award in 1985.

He was the last surviving charter member of Troop 117.

He had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1959, serving on the church council, evangelism committee and property committee, and helped organize the Sunday Funnies and Chums programs.

He was preceded in death by a twin sister, Helen.

Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Faye Symons and Carol Dau, both of Sheridan, and Shirley Snelling of Denver; and a brother, Kenneth of Honolulu.
