OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - July 19 2005

SHERIDAN -- Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Foss, 79, were held yesterday, July 18, at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan; interment followed in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo.

He died July 13, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

He was born June 28, 1926, in Basin to Warda and Martha (Sayles) Foss. When he was 3, the family moved to his grandparents' ranch near Decker, Mont., and helped with raising sugar beets and beans. He attended Foss School on Young's Creek and Squirrel Creek, one-room schools, and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1944.

Soon after moving to Sheridan, he began working for Pete's Taxi and Jersey Creamery. In 1948 he went to work at the flour mill as a flour packer for 10 years. He became a general contractor and built houses in and around Sheridan. In 1987 he started to do custom cemetery work for individuals, and in later years acquired three lodges to do cemetery care for.

On May 4, 1947, he married Doris Elaine Hill. She preceded him in death Sept. 22, 1982.

He married Jean Erickson on March 19, 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; his daughter, Cathie Wirtz of San Diego, Calif.; one granddaughter; a stepdaughter, Carol Wolfe of Gaston, Ore.; three stepsons, Curtis Erickson of Bismarck, N.D., Craig Erickson of Sheridan and Colin Erickson of Mount Vernon, Wash.; eight step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie Overturf; and a brother, Claris Foss.
