Clyde L. BOND 1923 – 2016 SHS 1944

The best dad ever passed peacefully on May 29, 2016 at his home in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. He was a good man who lived a good and honest life.

Clyde was born October 1, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska. He moved to Sheridan, Wyoming as a young boy and called Wyoming home for the remainder of his life.

He was proud to be known in the Sheridan community as "Smilin' Clyde", the milkman. He knew everyone in town, and everyone in town knew him.

In 1956, Clyde married Jane and together they raised four children: Danny, Randy, Calvin and Clyde. He always had time for his kids and all the kids in the neighborhood. He coached baseball for his boys' teams from little league through Championship Babe Ruth. He never tired of watching a good game of baseball or football. He hunted and camped the Big Horns and never turned down an opportunity to go fishing. Clyde loved to dance and was frequently seen at the Elks, Legion or Eagles dancing with every lady in town.

Clyde served honorably in the US Navy during WWII and Korea. He was proud to be among the Wyoming veterans who took The Honor Flight to Washington, DC to visit the WWII Memorial. He served as a DAV volunteer driver for many years and continued to support veterans through membership in the Sheridan VFW, American Legion, Elks and Masonic Lodge.

Clyde is survived by his sons Dan Bond (Laurie) of Colstrip, MT; Calvin Bond (Della) of Cahone, CO; and, his daughter Randy Vanklaveren (Richard) of Hayden, Idaho. He is also survived by his brother James Bond of Meridian, Idaho, and sisters Alberta Vandeventer of Albuquerque NM and Macy Schaefer of Mesa AZ. Clyde has six grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the VA hospital in Sheridan, the VA clinic and the VA Home Health Care in Coeur D'Alene, Dr. Alan Seely, Sugarland Assisted Living and Legends Assisted Living for their care, comfort and compassion while Clyde was in their care. He appreciated each and every one of you.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Sheridan Wyoming at a later date. Interment will be at the Sheridan Cemetery. Local arrangements will be handled by English Funeral Home.

Hasta la vista, Dad. We love you more than sunshine!
