OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - March 19, 2001

Janet E. Crist, 75, of Sheridan died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in her home.

Memorial service was 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Cindy Shipley officiating.  Arrangements were with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Mrs. Crist was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Sheridan to Homer and Ellen (Granger) Ballard.

She graduated high school in Sheridan and attended LaGrange (Ga.) College.

She married Edward John Crist Aug. 7, 1946, in Hardin, Mont.  The couple made their home in Sheridan.

Mrs. Crist worked for the telephone company for a few years.  She was a member of First Christian Church, the Eastern Star, Navy Mothers, Creative Fiber Guild and was a past president of Beauceant.  She enjoyed painting on felt and china, quilting, sewing and working in her garden.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Ballard.

Survivors include her husband, of Sheridan; four sons, Edward John Crist III of Cheyenne, Jeffrey L. Crist of Sheridan, J. Paul Kim Crist of Jacksonville, Fla., and Nicholas O. Crist of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Candace N. Crist of Sheridan; two sisters, Mary Anna Bowden and Marion Beverly Ballard, both of Sheridan; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
