Elizabeth Ethel Evelyn AULERICH Baker 1926 - 2004 SHS 1944

On July 24, 2004, Elizabeth Ethel Evelyn Aulerich Baker passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord, joining her beloved husband Floyd.

Bette was born April 17, 1926 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Ernest and Eleanor Aulerich. After graduating from Sheridan High School, she began her nurses training, which she completed upon moving to Tacoma. She graduated with the Class of '52, from Tacoma General School of Nursing as an RN.

November 2, 1952, she married firefighter Floyd Stanley Baker. Together they raised their children in Tacoma until his death in 1969. Bette continued to raise her children on her own.

She returned to her nursing career, and upon retiring, she ran her own business, Hug Me Day Care.

"Bet" treasured the time she spent with her sister, Lou. She especially enjoyed their trips to Reno along with her friend, Nancy. Bette was a giving, loving person, who put the needs of others far above her own. Her selflessness and generosity are an example for all of us to follow.

Bette is survived by her children, Douglas (Sharon) Baker, Susan (Gerry) Preece, Bob (Rhonda) Baker and Betty Tongue, and by her sister Mary Lou Mitchell and brother Robert Aulerich. Bette adored her eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service in her honor will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004, at 1:00 PM at Praise Covenant Church, 3501 S. Orchard, Tacoma, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or your favorite charity.
