John Henry ZOWADA 1925 – 2011 SHS 1943

John Henry Zowada, 86, of Sheridan passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the VA Medical Center.

John was born to parents John and Julia (Mentock) Zowada in Dietz #8, WY on February 9, 1925. John graduated from Sheridan High School and served in the Army during WWII. He married Rose Goodman on April 6, 1946. He worked for local businesses, including several coal mines, Sheridan Brewery, Trail Bar, and Sollars Plumbing. John decided to become a plumber, and he and his wife later established Zowada Plumbing and Heating, which remains a successful business today.

John's favorite spot was their trailer in the Big Horn Mountains. He had been an active member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union for forty-seven years. He was also a member of the Elks Club, Eagles Aerie, American Legion and VFW. He was an avid sportsman and continued to support local sports until his death. He never gave up on "His" New York Yankees!

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife, Rose, a daughter Carolyn (Martin) Robbins of Yachats, OR, along with two grandchildren: Ian (Amy) Robbins of Arroyo Grande, CA and Megan (Paul) Robbins of Spokane, WA, three great grandsons; Jack, Luke and Paxton, and his best buddy Tucker.

Services for John will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Kane Funeral Home with Father Jim Heizer officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials to honor John can be made to the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter at 84 East Ridge Road, Sheridan, WY 82801, or to the Donor's choice.
