Arthur Washut, 88, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Art was born on August 5, 1924 in Monarch, WY to parents Paul P. and Eva Chieslar Washut. He married Carmella (Romeo) Mentock on August 23, 1952. She brought two children into the marriage.

Art lived and worked his whole lifetime as a meat manager and butcher in the Sheridan area. He was a member of the Elks, enjoyed fishing, gardening but especially loved Polka dancing.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters; Martha Washut, Nina Ballek, and Bertha Simmons and brothers; Louis Washut, Robert Washut and Henry Washut.

He is survived by his two step children; John (Barbara) Mentock of Reno, NV, and Cecylia (Marc) Williams of Reno NV, grandchildren, Chelan, Natalie, Jon and Danielle, and two great-grandchildren. Also, brother Richard Washut, sisters, Emma Aksamit and Ida Cichonski, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials to honor Art may be made to the Sheridan Senior Center, 211 Smith Street, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Graveside Services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in the Sheridan Elks Cemetery with Deacon John Bigelow officiating.
