OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - June 2, 2001

SHERIDAN-Funeral services for Sheridan resident Della Mae Plachek, 75, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peters's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. David Duprey officiating.  Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, Masonic No. 43 Section.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

She died May 30, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

She was born July 15, 1925, in Sheridan, the daughter of E. E. and Anna (Stocker) Sneath.  She was raised and educated in Sheridan and received her nurses' training in Port Arthur, Texas.

After returning to Sheridan, she married Louis Plachek on July 1, 1950, in Sheridan.

She was a nurse at Memorial Hospital for 35 years, and then 10 years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center until she retired.

She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Diamond Rebekah Lodge and Daughter of the Nile; was past worthy matron of Friendship Chapter No. 51, Order of Eastern Star; and past treasurer and secretary of the Wyoming State Licensed Practical Nurses Association.

She enjoyed raising orchids, gardening, playing cards, crocheting, dancing, and old movies.

Survivors include a son, Gary Plachek, and a brother, Glen Heaton, both of Sheridan; a granddaughter ; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Edna Morris.

Memorials may benefit St. Peter's Church.
