Gordon Hugh "Bronco" LEGERSKI 1925 -1999 SHS 1943

Funeral services for Gordon Hugh “Bronco” Legerski, 74, will be Thursday, June 3 at Mortimore Funeral Home in Thermopolis at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Post 2281. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Legerski died at his residence in Thermopolis Saturday May 29, following a short illness of cancer.

Mr. Legerski was born April 13, 1925 in Kooi to John Keipus and Rose Catherine (Kunesky) Legerski. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1943, then entered the Navy. Following his discharge in 1946, he attended Marquette College and the University of Wyoming.

In 1950, he moved to Thermopolis, working on oil rigs and seismograph crews. He married Nellie Mae Colbert Oct. 31, 1954, in Thermopolis. For two years, he tended bar at the Emery Hotel.

He and his wife managed the Legion Town and Country Club in the early 1960s. They moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Mr. Legerski was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission until 1966. He then worked for Fluor Ltd., which included employment in Korea, Montreal, Canada, Puerto Rico and LaPorte, Texas.

In 1972, the family moved to Thermopolis where Mr. Legerski retired. A member of Eagles Aerie 1884, he was a past president, a trustee for 10 years and a state membership chairman. He was a member of the Catholic church and the VFW Post 2281.

Mr. Legerski enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, basketball and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two infant sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Mae; daughters, Loretta Hamilton of Casper, Jody Carter of Thermopolis, Terri Malia of Billings, and Catherine Caines of Hyattville; and 14 grandchildren.
