OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - October 29, 2002

Lorna Jean Ekis, 78, of Sheridan died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at Deaconess Billings Clinic in Billings.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Clark officiating. Private family interment will be in the Masonic Lodge 43 Cemetery.

Mrs. Ekis was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Sheridan to Lawrence and Maude (Warner) Cooke. Following high school graduation, she married Bernard G. Ekis Nov. 7, 1948, in Sheridan.

She worked for many years at Montgomery Ward in Sheridan.

She was a member of the McCormick Homemakers Club and St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

During her younger years, she loved horseback riding. She was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing for dances. She loved her family and loved doing activities with them at her mountain mobile home.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Norma L. Oswley, her brother, Merton Cooke, and a granddaughter, Krista Ekis.

Survivors include her husband; her son, Lawrence, of Sheridan; and a grandson.
