Elaine M. Michaels, originally of Bartlett, Ill., passed away in Green Valley, Ariz., May 4, 2013, at age 88.

She was born Nov. 6, 1924, in Sheridan, Wyo., to parents George and Nellie (Luke) Urbaczka, and married Robert H. Michaels Feb. 24, 1962, in Miles City, Mont.

Her favorite pastimes included playing bridge, reading and music. She was a member of the Newcomer’s Club since 1993, a lifetime member of the Elks Club, and of International Friends from UofA, where they became family to their “special son” from Chile, Gonzalo Valenzuela. She also enjoyed lunches and other outings with friends in Green Valley, where she had lived for the past 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Robert, and is survived by sisters Darleen (Marvin) Speier; Beverly James; sister-in-law Margaret Blum, and nephews Bill (Linda) Blum, Michael (Jacki) Blum, Richard (Barbara) Blum, and a niece Jean James, many grand nephews and nieces.

A Mass is set for 3 p.m., Monday, May 13, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Valley or the charity of one’s choice.

If you knew Elaine, you knew her infectious giggle, and she never met a person she couldn’t be a friend with.
