Charles Burch SMITH 1923 - 1996 SHS 1942

SHERIDAN - Memorial services for Charles B. Smith, 73, will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Champion Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith died Nov. 12, 1996, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sheridan.

He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Sheridan, to Samuel B. and May (Harper) Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Force during World War II.

On Jan. 5, 1952, he married Ada L. Jenkins in Sheridan.

Mr. Smith worked for Sheridan County Road and Bridge for 37 years, serving as foreman for 25 years. He retired from the county in 1985 and then worked as caretaker at Park Reservoir.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and life in the Big Horn Mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; four sons, Michael L. Smith of Sundance, Robert C. Smith and Edward F. Smith, both of Sheridan and William D. Smith of Woodstock, 111.; a brother, Steve Smith of Sheridan; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials, in memory of Mr. Smith may be designated to the Sheridan Senior Citizens Center, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan 82801.
