Robert Siegoski, 83, of Buffalo died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Sheridan VA Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo with the Rev. Pete Johnson as celebrant. Rosary and vigil will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in the Elks section of Sheridan Municipal cemetery with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion in charge of military honors.

Born June 24, 1925, in Monarch to Paul and Amelia Siegoski, he was educated at the Englefield School in Monarch and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1942.

He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served aboard ships in the Asiatic, Pacific and the Philippines theaters during World War II. He was with the occupation forces in Japan and received discharge orders in 1946.

He returned to Sheridan in 1949 and worked for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph.

He married Helen Legerski on July 28, 1951, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan.

Mr. Siegoski had numerous assignments with the telephone company throughout the state. The couple transferred to Cheyenne, then Casper, where he retired in a management position with the Casper district in 1987.

In 1990, the couple moved to Buffalo.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Telephone Pioneers, and was a life member of the Elks Lodge. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by a stepmother; a brother, Eugene; and two brothers who died in infancy.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Roberta “Bobbi” Stricker of St. George, Utah, and Mary Boal and Patti Coonts, both of Thornton, Colo.; a sister, Theresa Markham of Denver; two stepsisters, Irene Kekich of Sheridan and Ruth Whaples of Renton, Wash.; and six grandchildren.
