OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - April 26, 2001

Former Sheridan resident Betty Mae Banas, 77, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital.

A memorial service is 3:30 p.m. today at Koinonia Church with Pastor Don Self officiating. Callahan-Edfast Mortuary handled arrangements.

Mrs. Banas was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Briggsdale, Colo., to Arthur R.M. and Martha E. (Schnepf) Scott. She grew up in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High School.

She married George Banas in Sheridan.

She received a business degree in Denver and was a medical secretary.

She was a resident of Grand Junction 25 years, a member of Koinonia Church and the church board of directors and a member of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays of the Western Slope.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and a son, Scott.

Survivors include a son, Milton G.; a daughter, Chris R. Scott; a brother, Roy M. Scott of Boulder, Colo.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
