Anna Emmerine BURKE Hendricks 1924 - 2003 SHS 1942

Anna B. Hendricks, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, returned to her heavenly father on February 2, 2003, after an extended illness.

Anna was born on January 28, 1924, in Sheridan, Wyoming, the first child of Robert and Lillian Burke. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1942. She came to Hanford in 1944 as part of the war effort and worked in the payroll department for Du Pont.

On December 12, 1947, Anna married W. Dewain Hendricks in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Logan, Utah. They made their first home in Sunnyside. In 1956, they moved to Block 11 to farm outside Connell and moved into Connell in 1963. She lived in the same home for over 40 years.

Anna held many jobs throughout her life, payroll clerk, school cook, circulation manager and motor route driver for the Tri-City Herald (1969-1982), piano teacher, chaperone for the N. Franklin Junior Miss program, and church custodian. She has held many callings within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Connell Ward, Pasco and Richland stakes, working in the Primary, Sunday School as a teacher of all different ages, seminary teacher, music director, chorister, choir director, and Relief Society.

Anna's love of gardening and flowers is exhibited in the yard she maintained. Her love of music and hobbies are found throughout her home and has been shared with many over her lifetime.

Anna's most beloved calling was as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by one son, W.D. (Bill) Hendricks (Patti), Gilbert, AZ; five daughters, Peggy Boles (Jim), Evanston, WY; Rea Hastings, Moses Lake, WA; Joanne Williams (Art), Hermiston, OR; Pam Dawson (John), Kennewick, WA; Twila Robison, Connell, WA; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Dibble (Dick), Naples, FL; brother, Pat Burke (Glenna), Kennewick, WA; sisters-in-law Leona Stinson, Kennewick, WA; Margaret Hendricks, Finley, WA; and brother-in-law Roland Holden, Prosser, WA.

She is preceded in death by her husband W. Dewain Hendricks, daughter Joyce, parents Robert and Lillian Burke, sister Alice, and brother Floyd.

A celebration of Anna's life will be held at the Connell chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Relief Society Room. Burial will be immediately following at the Mount View Cemetery, Connell.

The family wishes to express their deepest heartfelt gratification to their family, friends, and Tri-Cities Hospice for their support and assistance during mom's illness.
