Paddy Rowena VERLEY Snyder 1923 - 2008 SHS 1941

MOIESE - Paddy R. Snyder of Moiese passed away at St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan, Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008.

Paddy was born in Sheridan, Wyo., Nov. 14, 1923, to Owen and Lila Verley. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1941.

Paddy married Roy G. Snyder Dec. 14, 1941. They moved to DeBorgia in 1947 where they ranched and worked at the Savenac Nursery. They were involved in ranching in Avon and Helena. In 1968, they purchased a ranch in the Moiese Valley where they operated the Moiese Performance Center for 15 years. Paddy was a full partner in the operation doing everything from keeping the books to feeding and doctoring the bulls. They also raised registered Hereford cattle and registered quarter horses.

Paddy took special pride in her garden of over 100 roses, some of which were moved from Helena and are over 40 years old. Each morning she and Roy picked a "rose of the day." Perhaps her favorite was Tiffany, a pink beauty. She lives on in her rose bushes, which her family hopes to share with her friends in the spring.

Paddy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend. She lived life with great energy and determination. Paddy made the best of every situation. She was most generous with smiles and laughter. Paddy will be dearly missed by all.

Her husband of 59 years, Roy Snyder, and an infant daughter preceded Paddy in death.

She is survived by her son, Roy O. Snyder and his wife Jane of Moiese; grandsons, Jeffrey Snyder and wife Debbie of St. Louis, Mo., and Gregory Snyder and wife Renee of Golden, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Grafel her husband Jason and their daughter Katie of Bozeman. She will also be missed by Jane's sons Bill McCabe, his wife Meg and children Ashley and Billy of Springfield, Va., Patrick McCabe of Bigfork and Jim McCabe and Lisa of Charlestown, R.I.

A private graveside service will be held for her family. An informal "rose party" will be held in the spring to share Paddy's rose bushes with her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3550 Mullan Road, Suite 105, Missoula, MT 59808.

Arrangements under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home, Poison.
