Joe Henry TOLAND 1922 - 2004 SHS 1941

Joe H. Toland, 81, of Sheridan died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Name Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis officiating. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home.

Mr. Toland was born June 16, 1922, in Sheridan to Joseph and Lenor (Livers) Toland. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1941. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a B24 radio gunner with the 13th Air Corps Pacific Theater.

He married Marilyn Switzer June 8, 1947, at the Switzer Ranch in Sheridan.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1951 from the University of Wyoming, with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, square dancing, traveling, spending time with his family and having coffee and lunch with friends. He delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of Jeans and Queens Square Dance Club, the Powell Kiwanis, Sheridan Rotary, Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He was a charter member of the Powell Elks Club and transferred membership to the Sheridan Elks. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Wayne; and two sisters, Thelma Guilfoyle and Relda Mossholder.

Survivors include his wife, of Sheridan; two daughters, Nancy Sims of Ridgefield, Wash., and Jody Deeds of Sheridan; a son, Dr. Greg of Powell; a sister, Dorothy Sanders of Buffalo; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
