A memorial service for Betty Mae Banas will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Koinonia Church with Pastor Don Self officiating.

Mrs. Banas passed away April 22, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was 77.

A resident of Grand Junction for 25 years, she had been a medical secretary.

She was born January 22, 1924, to Arthur R. M. and Martha E. (Schnepf) Scott in Briggsdale, CO. She spent her childhood in Sheridan, WY and graduated from Sheridan High School. She received a business degree in Denver, CO.

She married George Banas in Sheridan, WY. He died August 21, 1995, in Grand Junction.

Mrs. Banas was a member of Koinonia Church and had been on the board of directors. She was also a member of PFLAG of the Western Slope.

She enjoyed animals, gardening, canning, and collecting cookbooks and teddy bears.

She loved her family and was an active church member.

Survivors include a son, Milton G. Banas; a daughter, Chris R. Scott; a brother, Roy M. Scott of Boulder, two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George and a son, Scott Banas.
