Joseph Herman Schmautz, 91, of Hobe Sound, FL passed away March 19, 2015 at William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay, Florida.

Joseph was born April 16, 1923 in Sheridan, Wyoming, and resided in Hobe Sound, Florida for 19 years, after many years in Huntington, Long Island, New York

Joseph was a retired American Airlines Flight Engineer, and was employed there for 50 years. He was a US Air Force WWII Veteran and received the European African Middle Eastern Medal and World War II Victory Medal..

He enjoyed playing golf and traveling with his wife Dorothy.

Surviving are his loving children, Judy Woolston and her husband Dean of Long Island, NY; Stephanie Mahon of New Bedford, MA and Scott Schmautz and his wife Barbara of West Melbourne, FL; cherished grandchildren, David, Lori, Melanie and Timothy and seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy, and his brothers Frank and Jack.

A memorial service is planned at a later date in Stuart, Florida.
