Ken was born in 1923 in Sheridan, Wyoming, where he and his twin brother, Keith, kept their parents busy with a double dose of mischief. When he graduated, he enlisted in the US Air Corp and joined history as a radio operator and airplane mechanic during WWII. He eventually made it home safely but honored his fallen brothers by naming his three children after those that never came home.

When Ken returned from the war, he attended the University of Wyoming and met the love of his life. He and Arta Bateman were married in 1948 after a stunningly brief engagement. They had three children, Westy, Chuck (Charles), and Tally, along with a menagerie of family pets. His family was his constant anchor and he was always immensely proud of their accomplishments.

They moved to Sioux Falls with Western Airlines in 1960 but he carried the Bighorn Mountains with him for the rest of his life. He and his family returned often over the years for trips that he cherished and his fly-fishing skills are legendary with family and friends. He retired from Western Airlines after 36 years and focused on his business, Ken's Touch With Wood, where he spent many happy afternoons covered in sawdust.

He was a lifelong member of the church and his faith ran through his every action like the mountain streams he loved to fish. He treasured his community and served others whenever possible. He was especially active with helping local veterans, most notably serving as a Guardian with the Honor Flight and mailing a personal note to the family of every veteran that passed away in the Sioux Falls area.

Ken joined the Masonic Order and Shrine Legion of Honor as a young man and humbly served throughout his life. He attained the 33rd Degree in the Scottish Rite and was instrumental in founding the Scottish Rite Children's Speech Clinic. As a Master Mason he proudly received one of very few 70-year pins for his years of dedication.

He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, and son.

Grateful for having shared his life over the course of an entire century are his beloved wife of 74 years, Arta Salisbury, Sioux Falls, SD; his daughters, Westy (Steve) Vinson, Rochester, WA; and Tally (Paul Sneve) Salisbury, Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was a husband, a son, a brother, a father, a grandfather, a great grandfather, a great great grandfather, and a man of deep faith. He was so many things to so many people, but above all he was truly a good man. He will be so dearly missed.
