Hubert Oscar MINICK Jr. 1922 - 2009 SHS 1941

Former Sheridan dentist Hubert Oscar Minick Jr., 86, died Monday, June 29, 2009, in Los Angeles. Services are today at Canoga Park Presbyterian Church in Canoga Park, Calif.

Born Dec. 10, 1922, to Sarah and Hubert Minick Sr. in Upton, he grew up in the Sheridan area and graduated from Sheridan High School. He was a graduate of the University of Wyoming and Northwestern University Dental School. A dentist in Sheridan for five years, he left private practice to become chief of Central Dental Laboratories at the VA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 and flew 30 missions in a B-17 bomber in World War II.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Jean (Minick) Morganwick, a twin brother, Elliot, and another brother, James.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia (MacLeod) Minick of Los Angeles; three children, Jeanne (Minick) Kaufman of Pennsylvania, Marilyn (Minick) Angelo of Los Angeles, and Bill Minick of Los Angeles; one brother, Dr. Richard Minick of New York City; and eight grandchildren.
