Bess MCMANUS McEachern 1923 - 2008 SHS 1941

KINGWOOD, TEXAS - Our Mother, Bess McManus McEachern, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2008. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow in the Parlor. She will be placed in rest beside her husband, Mr. Clement Lee McEachern, at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Greenville, S.C.

Bess was born in Acme, Wyoming on May 31, 1923, the youngest daughter of Bessie Daly McManus and John McManus. She received a degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and was an aide to the Senator of California.

She was married and had two children in Washington, Clarence Lee McEachern and John Daly McEachern, while her husband, Mr. Clement Lee McEachern was an attorney for the Antitrust Department. They moved to S.C. and had Elizabeth Ann McEachern.

Bess was active in S.C. She was the Founder and Executive Director of the Greenville Blood Assurance Plan in S.C. and Treasurer of the National Blood Assurance Plan of America. She was Founder of the Carolina Ballet Theatre and President of the Legal Auxiliary in S.C.

Bess is survived by her children, John Daly McEachern and his wife, Mary McEachern and their child, Ian; and Elizabeth Chapman and her husband, Danny Chapman, and their sons, Matt and Chris; and her sister, Mrs. Alice McManus Loeffler.
