Thomas J. "Tommy" KING 1922 - 2014 SHS 1941

Thomas J. "Tommy" King, of Chelsea, Michigan, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

He was born on June 6, 1922, in Monarch, Wyoming, the only son of Thomas H. King and Rose (Wondra) King. He graduated from Sheridan High School in Sheridan, WY, and served with the 7th Army, 42nd Rainbow Div. during World War II.

He married Margaret F. King of Saline, MI, on August 31, 1946, at the First Presbyterian Church in Saline. They moved to Denver, Colorado, where he completed his B.S. Degree in Business/Accounting at the University of Denver, Class of 1949. After graduation, he worked for a land lease office in Sheridan as an accountant. Tom and Margaret moved back to Saline in 1951 where he worked for the Ford Motor Company, Cost Accounting, until his retirement in 1995.

Tom was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saline and American Legion Post 322.

The beautiful woods, lakes, and streams of Michigan provided wonderful opportunities to share his love for hunting and fishing with family and friends. He always looked forward to spending his summer vacation at "King's Kastle," the cabin he built with his parents in the Big Horn Mountains east of Yellowstone Park. Everyone was welcome at the cabin. Wonderful times were spent reuniting with family and friends, fly fishing, enjoying the abundance of wildlife, cook-outs over campfires, and meals cooked with a wood burning stove. Tom was a devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, son David (Cherrie), daughters Kathy, Marjorie, and Roseanne, granddaughter Kacey King Reynolds (Jared), step-grandchildren Amy Cook Barnaby (Tucker) and Andrew Cook (Stacy), and great-grandchildren Alexandria, Marshall, Cody, Cannon, Tucker, and Campbell.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church of Saline. Arrangements by Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea. Please visit the guestbook at www.mitchellfuneral.com.
