Mary Elizabeth KENNEDY West 1923 - 1981 SHS 1941

CASPER - A memorial service for Mary K. West, 58, who died Thursday at her home In Casper, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 5:30 p. m. at the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Jug Brandjord will officiate.

Mrs. West was born Feb. 6, 1923, at Sheridan and spent her early life there and in southern Montana. Upon graduation from the University of Wyoming in 1944, she taught school In Big Horn and had lived in Casper since 1948.

In 1945, she married Earl West at Sheridan.

A great lover of the outdoors and a naturalist, she was an accomplished trainer of retriever dogs. "She was a member of the Central Wyoming Retriever Club and an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. West had also been active in the Republican Party. She served two terms on the Natrona County Board of Education and had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

Survivors are four children, Tom West, Dennis West and Dr. Alan West, all of Casper, and Callie West of Portland, Oregon; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Porter Kennedy of Sheridan; two K. Wet brothers, Robert Kennedy of Sheridan and John Kennedy of Casper; and two grandchildren, Jesse and Sadie West.

Following the service, private scattering of the cremains will take place on private property.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Casper Meals on Wheels or the Blue Envelope Hospice.

Arrangements are by Memorial Chapel of Casper.
