;

Doris Mae Ennis, 86, of Livingston passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011 at her home, with her daughters by her side. At her request, cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory and a family memorial will be held in early summer, 2011.

Doris was born January 30, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Warren and Lillian (Elliott) Hewitt. When she was sixteen years old she moved to Sheridan, Wyoming where she met Jack Ennis. They were married August 3, 1941 in Sheridan and had three daughters, Carole, Janine and Debra. Debra died in March of 2009.

A homemaker first, Doris always took pride in caring for her home and family. She was an excellent seamstress and made all of her daughters’ clothing for many years. She loved to cook and will be remembered for her Saturday night hamburgers, her “holeless” donuts, lemon meringue pie, and, especially, the baked ham dinners. She liked to crochet and knit, completing many beautiful items through the years.

In Sheridan, Doris worked for Sheridan Commercial Co. and Sanderson’s Dry Cleaners for many years. Following her retirement she moved to Livingston to be near her daughter, Carole. She was a member of Park County Senior Citizens and RSVP. Doris was an avid card player to the end and especially loved it when she won.

In addition to her daughter, Debra, Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; a brother, Pat; and an infant granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughters, Carole Carey and Janine Stevenson, both of Livingston; grandchildren, Anthony (Julie) Garber, Michelle Clouter, Michael Viall, Robert (Scottie) Viall, Chad (Paula) Viall, Rebecca (Donald) Oliver, Dodi (Brian) Moore, and Colt (Lacey) Sell; twenty-two great-grandchildren, James, Kirstin, Patrick, Christopher, Alex, Brice, Forrest, Brandon, Caitlyn, Christina, Morgan, Vincent, Christopher, Zachery, Robyn, Danielle, Brooke, Cory, Cady, Cyla, Kyler, and Orin; and one great-great-grandson, Shane. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Mike, Dennis, Clair, Lily, Harold, Roland, Cliff, Elmer, Daniel, and Debbie, and their families.

Doris will be missed by her family, her friends at Sherwood Inn and Senior Center, and her special friend and care giver, Annette Steiger.

If so desired, memorials may be directed to Stafford Animal Shelter, 3 Boulder Business Park Road; or to Livingston Hospice Care, 504 S. 13th St., both in Livingston, MT 59047.
