Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend; Eunice Maxine Sanders (Grace), 91, of Lakewood, CO passed away after a prolonged illness on June 17, 2015 surrounded by her family. She will be remembered for her amazingly gracious spirit and depth of love for her family and friends, having room in her heart for so many.

Born in Sheridan, WY August 11, 1923, she spent her childhood there as well. As a youth and in high school she enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and volleyball. She was also a member of the high school girls Glee Club. Later; Eunice became an avid bowler who won the Sheridan All City bowling title and continued bowling as an adult.

After earning her Secretarial diploma, she worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sheridan and Denver, CO. During WW II, she joined the Marine Corps and worked rebuilding F-4 Fighter engines in North Carolina. She was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. After the war, she worked for the U.S. Bureau of Mines Oil Shale Experiment Station in Rifle, CO. ultimately becoming the Executive Secretary to the Chief of the station. While in Rifle, she met her beloved husband of 59 years, William (Bill) C. Sanders Jr. Eunice and Bill made their home and raised their children in Denver and Littleton, CO. They enjoyed travelling over the years making trips around the United States, Canada and in Europe.

Eunice enjoyed spending time with her grandsons and her many friends she made over the years. She especially cherished the friendships developed in the last few years of her life with the ladies in the community where she lived.

She is survived by her sons David (Jeannie) of Woodinville, WA and Stephen (Ellen) of Highlands Ranch, grandsons Britt, Kody, Christopher and Aaron, brothers George (Virgie) Grace of Buffalo, WY, Donald (Marilyn) Grace of Sheridan, WY, sister Beverly Todd of St. David, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon, husband Bill, parents George and Sylvia Grace, sisters Betty Juett and Georgia Dooley.

Funeral services took place in the Chapel of Peace at Crown Hill in Wheat Ridge, CO on Sunday, June 28. Interment followed at the cemetery.

The family suggests making a donation in Eunice's name to the Salvation Army, Intermountain Division, or a charity of your choice.
