Helen FOSTER Harbel 1924 - 2014 SHS 1941

Helen Frances Harbel was born to John and Grace Foster, May 24, 1924 and died at Westview Healthcare Center June 30.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Harbel, oldest son, Larry D. Harbel, sister, Vera Schonenbach and brother, Keith Foster.

She is survived by her son, Gerald L. Harbel (Merikay) of Boise, ID; Judith F. Adams (Tom Wicevich) of Ridgway, CO.; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Lu Reeves (Glenn), Sheridan, WY; brother, Ralph Foster (Terri), Clearmont, WY; and sister-in-law, Mary Harbel Kraft, Sheridan. She has numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Helen graduated from Sheridan High School in 1941 and attended Normal Training in Gillette, WY. She graduated with a B.A. degree in education from the University of WY in 1960. She started her long teaching career at Ash Creek with 3 pupils in 1943. Her longest employment was at Woodland Park school where she retired in 1984.

She was very active in 4-H for many years as a member and leader. After she retired she became an accomplished painter and she and Charlie traveled in the U.S. and some internationally. She also tutored children and helped at local libraries.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
