Betty Lorraine CALKINS Lamb 1923 – 1992 SHS 1941

BILLINGS, Mont. - Services for former Wyoming resident Betty L. Lamb, 69, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Michlotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Lamb died March 26, 1992, at St. Vincent Hospital following an illness associated with cancer.

She was born March 19, 1923, in Bemis, S.D., the daughter of the late Herbert and Adeline Calkins. The family moved to Bowman, N.D., and then to Sheridan where she grew up and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1941. She then moved to Denver, Colo., and attended Denver University on a music scholarship. She also sang and entertained military troops at various USO clubs in the area.

On May 2, 1948, she married Jack Lamb in Sheridan. The couple later moved to Billings.

Mrs. Lamb enjoyed working on cross-stitch and needlepoint pictures, painting, playing the organ and singing. In 1 944, she was the winner of the General Electric Hour of Charm singing audition. She enjoyed cooking and giving dinner parties. Mrs. Lamb was known to her family and friends as "Nanny," and "Betty Bits."

Besides her husband of Billings, survivors include a son, Jack Lamb Jr. of Casper; and three daughters, Sue Larson, Judy Lamb and Kasey Zielke, all of Billings. Also surviving are three brothers, Herb, Jim and Ken Calkins, all of Sheridan; and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne.
