     JACK BROWNE LOST IN AIR ACTION; WAS WELL KNOWN HERE

Mr. and Mrs. Edward W. Browne of Billings have received word that their son,
Jack D. Browne, was lost in action over Poland on Easter Sunday.

Jack, who had graduated from training as a tail gunner, photographer and
radio man, was acting in the capacity of gunner when lost.  He was
well-known here in athletic circles and was a member of Carroll's
championship softball team.

Dudley Browne, another son of Mr. and Mrs. Browne, is now living in
Billings, having received a medical discharge from the army for injuries
sustained while in training for the army tank corps at Fort Knox, Ky.

Mr. and Mrs. Browne and both sons formerly lived in Sheridan where he was
manager of the Northwest States Utilities Co.

(2,3), Sports Editor of Ocksheperida (2,3,4), Hall of Fame (3).

In a friends' Memory Book he wrote that his nickname was "Lefty", and his
ambition was the "World Series".
