Maxine Wilson, 87, of Lodge Grass, Mont., died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, in Sheridan Manor.

Memorial services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Gifford officiating.

Born Sept. 18, 1922, to Ed and Maude Wilkes in Sheridan, she married Jack Wilson in 1941 and they purchased the High School Hill Store in 1949.

A seamstress, she enjoyed weekends at their cabin, horse races, riding her motorbike for pleasure and for moving cattle, hosting ice-skating parties, brandings, cattle-drive picnics, playing the piano, being a ranch wife, and spending time with family.

In her younger years she was a member of Junior Women's Club and Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does and later of Wyoming CowBelles.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Wilkes, Burl Wilkes and Merlin Wilkes.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Edward Wilson of Lodge Grass; a daughter, Jacque Friedrick of Sheridan; a sister, Betty Young of Cincinnati; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
