OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - January 5, 2002

CASPER - Funeral Liturgy for Casper resident Henry Paul Washut, 80, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church by Fr. Michael Carr and Monsignor James O'Neill.  Rite of committal will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Vigil for the Deceased will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bustard's Funeral Home.

He was born May 1, 1921, in Kooi, the son of Paul Peter and Eva (Cieslar) Washut; and was raised and educated in Sheridan.  He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1940.

On Aug. 19, 1942, he married Paula Vivian Johnson in Hardin, Mont.  They moved to Casper in 1945.

During World War II, he helped build the Alaskan Highway.  Later he assisted in the remodeling and building of North Side Center and Seton House in Casper.

He was employed at Fred's Town and Country, A.G. Thriftway and Smith's grocery stores and was meat market manager at Roundup Market in Mills.  He retired in 1983.

A member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, he was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife and two sons, Art and Henry R., all of Casper; two daughters, Sr. Renee Washut, SCL, of Denver, and Kay L. Munson of Great Falls, Mont.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; two brothers, Arthur of Sheridan and Richard of Manson, Wash.; and three sisters, Bertha Simmons and Ida Cichonski, both of Sheridan, and Emma Aksamit of Kleenburn.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Robert; and sister, Nina Ballek.
