Clyde Franklin SMITH 1922 - 1997 SHS 1940

SHERIDAN - Private family graveside services for Clyde F. Smith, 75, will lie conducted Tuesday.

Mr. Smith died May 23, 1997, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sheridan.

Hie was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Sheridan, the son of Thomas and Martha (Maxwell) Smith. He was raised and educated in Sheridan, graduating from high school there . He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

On Sept. 1, 1916, he married Connie R. Belmont in Hardin, Mont.

Mr. Smith worked for Montana-Dakota Utilities for 40 years until he retired in 1986.

He was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church; a past master of Masonic Lodge No. 8; past patron of Naomi Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; a member of the Kalif Shrine; Elks Lodge No. 520; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and was active in Job's Daughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994.

Survivors include three sons, Glenn Smith of Green River, Thomas Smith of Sheridan, and Clyde J. Smith of Gillette; two sisters, Hazel Nordgran of Canby, Ore., and Nola Jelly of Billings, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.

Memorials to Masonic Lodge No. 8 Cemetery Fund or Our Camp Inc., in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, Sheridan, WY 82801, would be appreciated by the family. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
