SHERIDAN -- Memorial services for Kenneth Ruff, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at Kane Funeral Home with Rev. Don Derryberry officiating. Cremation has taken place.

He died Sept. 13, 2007, at West View Health Care Center.

He was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Sheridan to David A. and Jennie Symons Ruff. He grew up in Sheridan where he graduated from high school.

He married Betty MacCatherine in Sheridan on Aug. 2, 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.

He was a lifelong employee of Mountain Bell, retiring on Jan. 18, 1982, after 42 years of service.

He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, held an honorary life membership in the Communication Workers of America and was a life member of Sheridan Elks Lodge No. 520. He also belonged to the Kalif Temple and was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheridan.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy R. Fowkes of Danville, Calif.; two sons, David K. Ruff of Sheridan and James B. Ruff of Longmont, Colo.; nine grandchildren, three great-granddaughters and a great-grandson; a sister, Leona R. Businga of Winnebago, Ill.; three cousins, two nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a grandson.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials to the Kalif Shriner's Children's Fund, 145 West Loucks, Sheridan, 82801.
