Sheridan native Mae P. Harper, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, in Lancaster, Calif.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Chapel in Lancaster. Interment will be private.

Born May 3, 1923, in Sheridan, she and her family moved to Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., in 1955.

She worked for the U.S. Air Force Civil Service at Edwards as an executive staff secretary on the generals’ staff, retiring in 1981.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellery “Bert” Harper; a sister, June Hargis; and a brother, James Phillips.

Survivors include two daughters, Penney K. Taylor and Becky Mansfield; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
