George Amos LUNBECK 1922 - 1996 SHS 1940

STORY - Memorial services for George Amos Lunbeck, 74, will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Story Women's Club in Story.

Mr. Lunbeck died at his Story residence on July 30, 1996.

He was born April 22, 1922, in Sheridan, the son of George D, and Lena (Wellett) Lunbeck.

On July 3, 1942, he married Phyllis Jean Huggins in Paris, Idaho.

During World War II, he served in China, Burma, India Theatre and was a member of the Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force.

He was employed by Peter Kiewit Sons, Inc., for 20 years and then became self-employed. He was the caretaker at Kearney Lake from 1972 through 1973, was the Story fire chief for many years and served as district board member of the Story Fire District.

He was a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association, Inc., the U.S.A.F. Mars, Elks Lodge No. 520, the Eagles Lodge No. 1271, V.F.W. Post No. 7 and the American Motorcyclists Association. He enjoyed computers, riding motorcycles and snow machines and was an amateur radio operator.

Survivors include his wife of Story, one daughter, Patti Jean Olesen, two sons, George A. Lunbeck and John E. Lunbeck; one half-brother, Robert Culver of Banner; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
