Loretta R. GUENTHER Sikora Brown 1921 - 2015 SHS 1940

Loretta R. Brown, 94 of Caldwell, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12th at Canyon Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Condolences may be shared at www.dakanfuneralchapel.com

Loretta was born January 15, 1921 the fourth daughter of five to Della M. and James T. Guenther in Sheridan, Wyoming. She was raised and educated in Sheridan where she met and married Leo Sikora. They both worked a short time at Hill Field in Utah repairing airplanes during the war.

Loretta became a nurse after returning to Sheridan. She and Leo had two sons, who both died in infancy, and a daughter, Judith. Loretta worked in nursing at Sheridan Hospital then moved to Hardin, Montana, where she worked in the hospital and a doctor office.

Loretta and Leo later divorced and she went to work as an onsite nurse during the construction of Yellowtail Dam in Montana and the Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona.

Loretta married Del Brown and they moved to Ghana, Africa and Venezuela following the construction work. After retirement, she and Del settled in Missouri where she raised her beloved chickens.

In 1990, she and Del moved to Idaho to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Loretta was a skilled seamstress, did beautiful Counted Cross-stitch work and loved to remodel and redecorate her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Del, her parents, 2 infant sons, and 4 sisters.

Loretta is survived by her daughter, Judith Wilkins of Caldwell; a 'special daughter', Louise Brown Brockway of AZ; 5 grandchildren, David (Dang) Wilkins of Star, Carl (Susan) Wilkins of NC, Carin (Lupe) Sein of Caldwell, Jennifer (Calvin) Tanouye of Caldwell and Brandon Killbourne of AZ; 10 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters.
