OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - September 16 2005

SHERIDAN -- The funeral for Sheridan resident Phyllis L. Wyatt, 83, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sheridan by the Rev. David Duprey.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Kane Funeral Home of Sheridan.

She died Sept. 11, 2005, at her son's home.

Born June 28, 1922, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of Helen Dot (Davis) and Orville Dana; graduated from Sheridan High School; and attended Woodbury College in Los Angeles, majoring in art and interior decorating.

On Sept. 14, 1944, she married Charles James "Jim" Wyatt at St. Athanathis Church in Los Angeles.

She was an operator with Mountain Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years.

A gifted artist, she won many honors, including congressional awards, which allowed her art to be hung in the Senate and Representative buildings in Washington, D.C., and Cheyenne. She and her husband owned the Paintbrush and Palette from 1974 to 1981; then started Co-Op Gallery 348, which was in business from 1987 to 1990.

She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and its Altar Guild; Telephone Pioneers of America; Alpha Iota National Sorority; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; the 2nd Marine Division Association; and Wyoming Art Association. She was a signature member of the Wyoming Water Color Association and served two years as president of the Sheridan Artists Guild.

Other interests included snow-machining and traveling.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Wyatt Jr. and Michael Wyatt, both of Sheridan; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three brothers, Wayne, Lowren and Eugene Dana.

Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Church, Hospice of the Big Horns, Shriner's Children's Fund, or Sheridan Cancer Society.
