OBITUARIES - THE CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - July 22, 2003

SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Sheridan resident Frances Kathleen (Brantz) Gillis, 81, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan by Pastor William Heine.  Interment will follow in Sheridan Elks Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at Kane Funeral Home of Sheridan.

She died July 19, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Born July 14, 1922, in Monarch, she was the daughter of Andrew and Kathryn (Marosok) Brantz; and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1940.

In 1942, she married William J. Gillis. They were the parents of a son and then divorced.

In 1965, she married Otto Heezko. The couple later divorced.

She worked at the original Pentagon building in Washington, D.C., before returning to Sheridan, where she was employed by MDU for 46 years.

A member of the Eagles, Moose and B.P.O. Does, she enjoyed bowling and bowled for Ernest Saddlery for many years.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and, especially, the Big Horn Mountains and the family cabin built by her father and uncle in 1932.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Patricia of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a nephew; and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; a brother, Walter; and a sister, Victoria.
