Ernest Clifton WORKMAN 1922 - 2008 SHS 1939

WORKMAN E Clifton (Age 86) Passed away June 22, 2008 at the Whitman Health and Rehab Center in Colfax WA.

He was born June 8, 1922 in Sheridan Wyoming to Ernest Clifton and Bertha Risdon Workman. He graduated from the Sheridan High School in 1939 and attended the University of Wyoming.

Clifton married Phyllis Rohan on April 5, 1942 in Gillette WY.

After two years of college, he entered the Army Air Corps serving for two years during WWII in Europe. After he was discharged, he came back to Wyoming and worked in banking. The family moved to Seattle in 1957 and then to Ellensburg in 1959 where he also worked in banking. They made their home in Endicott in 1964 where he worked as a manager for Bank of America until his retirement. He then went to work as a credit manager for McGregor's for eight years.

Clifton enjoyed golfing fishing woodcraft and following his grandchildren in all of their many activities. He was also a member of the Elks and Masons.

Clifton is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Workman at their home in Endicott WA; his three daughters and their husbands, Pat & Jim Britton of Colfax, Jeanne Workman of Endicott and Karen & Richard Durst of Airway Heights WA; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild with another on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Workman; sister, Evelyn McCImtock; a great-granddaughter, Savvanah; a niece and his parents.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday June 30, 2008 at 11 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott WA.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the donor’s choice.
