Robert Stanley WILMESMEIER 1921 - 2007 SHS 1939

SHERIDAN - Memorial services with military honors for Robert S. Wilmesmeier, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at Kane Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating. Interment of cremains is in Sheridan Elks Cemetery. He died Aug. 2, 2007, at Westview Health Care Center.

He was born June 14, 1921, in Sheridan to Robert and Helen Wilmesmeier. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1939.

He joined the Wyoming National Guard and was sent to Fort Lewis, Wash., prior to World War II. He served as a corporal in the Army for five years during World War II.

He married Ruby Smith in 1951 and they divorced in 1963. He then married Jean Swanson in 1984 and they later divorced.

He worked as a flooring contractor before he began his employment in the engineering department at the Sheridan VA Medical Center, where he remained until his retirement in 1986.

He was a member of Sheridan Elks Lodge for 54 years, the First Presbyterian Church and the Sheridan Heritage Center.

He enjoyed doing volunteer work around the community, including driving for meals on wheels and the VA Medical Center, performing tasks at City Hall and giving tours at the Sheridan Inn.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Mclntyre and her husband, Lynn, of Blackfoot, Idaho and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Robert Alan Wilmesmeier.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheridan Senior Center Meals on Wheels program, 211 Smith St., Sheridan, WY 82801.
