OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - September 17 2004

Sheridan native Margaret Ellen "Peg" Hamstreet, 83, of Bellingham, Wash., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, at her residence.

A memorial service was this morning at St. James Presbyterian Church in Bellingham. Arrangements are with Westford Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Bellingham.

Mrs. Hamstreet was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Sheridan to Samuel and Alice (Bottomley) Upton.

She moved to Bellingham in 1961.

She taught private piano lessons and in the music department at Western Washington University.

She belonged to numerous organizations including St. James Presbyterian church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Bellingham Women's Music Club, where she was past president, and the Bellingham Golf and Country Club, where she was the first woman president.

Survivors include her husband, James; three sons, Richard of Randle, Wash., Charles of Bellingham and James of Sammamish, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
