Frank Rauzi, 88, of Sheridan, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral liturgy is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Stolcis as celebrant. Interment will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Born Feb. 9, 1921, in Sheridan to Stephen and Theresa (Wegher) Rauzi, he grew up and attended schools in Sheridan including Taylor and Hill Schools. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1939.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was discharged in 1945.

He attended the University of Wyoming, where he received a bachelor's degree in 1951 and a master's degree in range management in 1953.

After graduation, he worked for the Department of Agriculture at the University of Wyoming. He did field research in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado and published a number of articles in numerous professional papers and magazines. He retired in 1980 after 32 years of service and donated all his papers to Sheridan College.

Mr. Rauzi enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading.

He was a benefactor of the Sheridan Senior Citizens Center, Sheridan Historical Museum, and Sheridan College Foundation with scholarships.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Survivors include a sister, Mary Pearce of Ranchester; two nephews; two great-nephews; and a great-great-niece.

Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Senior Citizens Center or Sheridan College Foundation.
