Robert W. RANDALL 1921 - 2004 SHS 1939

Robert W. Randall, 82, of Sheridan died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in Sheridan Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Derryberry officiating.

Burial will be in the Masonic No. 43 section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with military honors by John Donald Garbutt American Legion Post 7 and the Wyoming National Guard.

Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Mr. Randall was born Sept. 2, 1921, to Fred and Perle (Hill) Randall on the family homestead north of Sheridan. He grew up in the Sheridan area and was a 1939 graduate of Sheridan High School.

He enlisted in the Army and was sent to Fort Lewis, Wash. He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II, including the Philippines, and watched the signing of the Japanese surrender on the USS Missouri on Sept. 2, 1945, from the shores of Tokyo Bay.

He returned to Sheridan and worked as a carpenter for various construction companies including Nelson Construction Co. and Randall Construction Co. He retired in 1984 and received a 50-year pin from the Carpenter's Union headquartered in Casper.

He married Anna L. Kester Jan. 13, 1946, in Sheridan.

In addition to the Carpenter's Union, he was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sheridan, Big Horn Mountain Masonic Lodge 43 and Elks Lodge 520.

He owned apartments in Sheridan and enjoyed working on them. He enjoyed trips to his wife's family ranch on Ash Creek, repairing fence on the ranch, being around cattle, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a son, Gregg of Powell; a daughter, Deborah Saunders of Houston; and four grandchildren.
