Everett Firth PERRYMAN 1922 - 2017 SHS 1939

Webster NY: Sunday, May 14, 2017, age 95. A Webster resident since 1951, Firth was the widower of the late Nancy Hubbard Perryman. Beloved father of Christine, Penelope and Douglas (Eileen); grandfather of George (Andrea), Jacob (Hillary), Hannah and Martha; great-grandfather of Ashlynn, Quinn, Hazel and Kinley; uncle to 5 nieces and 4 nephews.

Born at home to a telegraph operator and steam engine fireman in Sheridan, WY, Firth was an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Sheridan High School. He earned a full scholarship to Cornell University College of Engineering where he completed a 5 year Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering in 1943. A veteran of WWII, Firth served in Europe with the Army's 424 Regiment, 106th Infantry. A career foods chemist and researcher, he retired as Manager of Engineering Research at the R.T. French Co. on 1 Mustard St. in Rochester.

Along with being a NYS Licensed Professional Engineer, Firth was a sportsman and loved playing golf and tennis, fly fishing, bird watching, spelunking and family camping. He was an active, 65 year member of the Webster Presbyterian Church, former member of the Rochester Presbyterian Home Board of Trustees and a long-time Literacy Volunteer in Rochester. He maintained a fervent internet presence, starting with a dial-up Prodigy, through Coursera student and author of the blog "Reflections of a Nonagenerian." Most recently he resided at the Batavia NYS Veterans' Home.

Friends may call 3-7 PM Friday, May 26 at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Memorial Service 2:00 PM Saturday, May 27 at Webster Presbyterian Church, 550 Webster Rd., Webster NY 14580.
