Norman Allen MCSWEYN 1921 - 2009 SHS 1939

Norman Allen McSweyn passed away September 29, 2009 at Renown Medical Center in Reno Nevada after suffering a stroke.

He was born in Miles City, Montana, June 5, 1921, the first son of Allen and Beatrice McSweyn. He grew up in the Birney, Montana and Sheridan, Wyoming area where he graduated from high school in 1939.

Norman entered the U.S. Army Air Corp in 1941 serving as a sergeant in the Military Police. After he was discharged in 1946, he lived in Florida and Mississippi before returning to Montana.

In 1963 he moved to Washington state and lived in the Seattle area before moving to Bellingham WA in 1969. He retired with his wife to Reno NV in 1999.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents Allen and Beatrice, and his brothers Donald W. and Leonard R. McSweyn.

He is survived by his wife Susan, sons Norman A. McSweyn Jr. (Celia), Donnell A. McSweyn (Tatyana), stepson Jason I. Blue (Loraine), daughters Carolyn B Savoie (Joseph) and Christie A. Jacobson (David), 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

At his request there will be no funeral or memorial service. Cremation arrangements are being made by the Neptune Society and inurnment of his ashes will be at Berea Cemetery in Berea Kentucky.

He wanted all concerned to remember to achieve success: live well, laugh often and love much. All who knew him will miss his sunny smile, stories of long ago and be reasonable do it my way attitude.
