Warren Douglas HOTCHKISS Sr. 1920 - 1983 SHS 1939

HOT SPRINGS - Graveside rites for former Wind Cave National Park superintendent Warren D. Hotchkiss, 63, of Hot Springs, will be 3:10 p.m. Friday at Blaek Hills National Cemetery. The Rev. Peter Dahlberg will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to I p.m. Thursday at the McColley Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home In Hot Springs.

A memorial has been established to Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 110, AF&AM of Hot Springs.

Hotchkiss died Monday at the Hot Springs Veterans Administration Center.

He was born Dec. 21, 1920, at Sheridan, Wyo. He attended schools in Buffalo and Casper, Wyo., and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1939.

He married Anne Hall July 22. 1946, at Gardiner, Mont.

He served in Europe with U.S. Army during World War II. After the war he began a 25-year career with the National Park Service in Yellowstone National Park. He worked at many other national parks and monuments. Including Rocky Mountain National Park, Colo., Homestead National Monument, Neb., and Theodore Roosevelt National Park, N.D. He was Wind Cave National Park superintendent from 1966 to 1969.

He was a master mason of the Harmony Lodge.

Surviving are his wife of Hot Springs; two sons, Michael R. of Arvada, Colo., and Warren D. Jr. of Rapid City; one daughter, Barbara Moore of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Agnes Stanton of Albuquerque, N.M., and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathryn Ann, in 1979.
