Sheridan native Georgia Rosalie Melneck, 81, of Miles City, Mont., died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, in Holy Rosary Extended Care Center. Memorial services will be at a later date in Sheridan. Arrangements are with Bullis Graves Memorial Chapel and Eastern Montana Crematory of Miles City.

Mrs. Melneck was born April 11, 1921, in Sheridan to Edgar and Zora Hamilton. She was a 1939 graduate of Sheridan High School. She married Michael James Melneck of Sheridan in 1940.

She was a bookkeeper and homemaker, and he worked for F.W. Woolworth Co.

Mrs. Melneck was an avid bridge player and golfer, and she kept her 9 iron even after poor health made her give up golf.

She moved to Miles City after her husband retired in 1982.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include four children, Michael James of Denver, Vicki Bates of New Freedom, Pa., and Nancy Smith and Ginger Kiel, both of Miles City; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or a charity of donor's choice.
