George GAVOS 1921 - 1984 SHS 1939

George Gavos, 62, of Orem, died Wednesday, May 16, 1984, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo of Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born June 24, 1921 in Monarch, Wyo., to Harry P. and Iva Moody Gavos.

He married Oriya Hasimoto Sipe, June 18, 1964, in Billings, Mont. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

He was educated in Wyoming schools. He worked with the CC's for three years. He lived in Ogden for three years and then moved to Billings until 1976 when he moved to Orem. While in Montana he worked as a truck driver for the United Buckingham. He worked as Signetics in Orem for four years prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the LDS Church, Orem 41st Ward. He was a Seventies Group leader. High Priest secretary and Elder's Quorum president.

Survivors include his wife of Orem; two sons and three daughters: Richard Sipe, Tucson, Ariz.; David Sipe, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Doug (Orinii) Ackroyd and Susan Gavos, both of Orem; Mrs. Larry (Linda) Webber, Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren; one sister: Bernice M athis, Cheyene, Wyo.

Services were held Saturday in Orem. Burial was in Orem City Cemetery.
